I graduated in Translation Studies<\/strong> at the University of Alicante<\/strong> in 2000. Over time, I also became interested in proofreading, so I ended up combining both activities. So nowadays I translate, edit, and proofread texts. And I also read. I read a lot.<\/span><\/p>\n

The way we express our content is part of our brand image. It is a cover letter that can open doors. But it can also close them. Often the difference between an acceptable text and a great text is not obvious at first glance. There are mediocre texts without a single spelling mistake but full of inconsistencies. There are also simple texts which perfectly fulfill their function with no need for so much rhetoric.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are many different ways to translate a message into another language. A professional translator\u2019s job is to make sure that nothing essential has been left behind and, to do so, the translator must understand the meaning of \u201cessential\u201d and adapt it to the relevant assignment in hand. The reader\u2019s perception \u2013our client, after all\u2013 will tell us whether we did a good job.<\/span><\/p>\n

When proofreading, we should improve the text but also respect the author\u2019s style. We should always be faithful to the essence of the text.
